Our main issue was that many staff no longer used Facebook, which was our primary communication tool. The AD-IOS system solved this by reaching the entire team effectively. Their Challenge

Chick-fil-A faced significant communication hurdles due to changing staff preferences. Many employees no longer used Facebook—the company’s primary tool for internal communication through group pages—which meant they were not reaching the entire team effectively. Traditional methods like email were also insufficient, as not everyone checks their emails regularly. This communication gap made it challenging to disseminate important business updates, new initiatives, and operational information to approximately 200 employees weekly. Additionally, coordinating content for public-facing social media was cumbersome without a centralized system for content creators to submit and review images and videos.

Our Solution

To address these challenges, we developed a customized internal communication platform through the AD-IOS program. This solution provided Chick-fil-A with a centralized hub where all employees could receive timely updates, ensuring that important information reached everyone effectively. The user-friendly interface encouraged staff engagement, overcoming the limitations of previous tools like Facebook and email.

We also integrated a content management system that allowed content creators to compile images and videos in one place. The marketing director could easily access and review this content to decide what to feature on public-facing social media pages. This streamlined the content approval process, saving time and enhancing collaboration between team members.

The implementation of the AD-IOS system dramatically improved internal communication and operational efficiency at Chick-fil-A. Employees stayed informed and engaged, and the marketing team could effectively manage content for social media. This solution not only benefited their current operations but also set a precedent for other Chick-fil-A locations and restaurants facing similar challenges.

What AD-IOS Did

Custom Employee Communication Platform

We developed a bespoke Employee Communication Network (ECN) tailored to Chick-fil-A's specific needs. This cloud-based SaaS solution serves as a centralized hub for all internal communications, eliminating the need for company-provided emails and saving franchise owners approximately $5 per user per month. Accessible via mobile devices as a home screen app, the ECN ensures that employees can stay connected anytime, anywhere.

Real-Time Communication and Notifications

Understanding the importance of timely and effective communication, we integrated real-time messaging and notification features into the ECN. Employees receive instant updates via SMS or their personal email accounts, overcoming the limitations of traditional email systems that are often overlooked. The platform supports multi-level group newsfeeds and individual communications, allowing for efficient information dissemination across different locations and departments.

Employee Engagement and Recognition

To foster a strong company culture and enhance employee retention, we incorporated features that promote engagement and recognition. The ECN includes a newsfeed community where employees can participate in groups and discussions, submit maintenance requests or tickets, and like, share, and comment on community boards. Managers can recognize and award employees directly through the platform, boosting morale and acknowledging hard work.

Comprehensive Resource Management

We built a robust content management system within the ECN to streamline access to essential resources. Employees can easily access and share documents, images, PDFs, training materials, and more. The platform allows for training requests from directors, time-off requests via a PTO portal with approval tracking, and a forms portal for HR-related documents. New hires can immediately access information like insurance details, benefits, and standard operating procedures, simplifying the onboarding process.
